Why AdvanceCare?

In the health care arena, different types of solutions provided by different insurance companies and/or banking corporations have been proposed recently. Since we believe that the answer for the private health care sector does not come from isolated solutions, but from an agreement between various entities that in spite of being competitors will be able to work together focusing on an unique goal, we decided to create AdvanceCare. From this joint venture, not only a better profitability of the current business arises but also an improvement in the quality of the service rendered to our Clients.

Who we are and what are we doing?

AdvanceCare - Gestão de Serviços de Saúde, S. A. was created in 1998 in order to provide to its Clients a service of excellence in the health care arena. AdvanceCare comes from a joint-venture between the Insurance Companies Tranquilidade, VICTORIA, and Espírito Santo Seguros, United Health Care (U. S. A.) and Munich Re (Germany), international enterprises leaders in the market of managed care and reinsurance areas. Related to our genesis, there is a recent concept of health care delivery, especially for Portugal, called Managed Care which in our reality presents the following characteristics:

• AdvanceCare manages a network of contracting providers of health care services (physicians, clinics, hospitals, etc.), which are wisely selected and permanently attended by us in order to guarantee a high-quality of service;
• Our Clients will have better conditions when they select our provider network of services, instead of going to non-participating providers;
• AdvanceCare makes available to its Clients a nurse line for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year of medical advice and urgency services;
• We dispose of a professional call center to assist our Clients and providers;
• We stand for a pro active attitude in the instigation of health of our Clients, privileging the prevention and premature detection of potential diseases;
• At this moment the main activity of AdvanceCare consists of providing our services to insurance companies (Health Insurance Sector), managing operationally its members portfolio. Besides of the "traditional health insurance" (usually called "indemnity" insurance), the members will be able to access our preferential conditions of managed care approach.
